Breast Reconstruction Procedures Case #5638

56 year old patient with right breast cancer for which she underwent a bilateral skin sparing mastectomy and placement of bilateral tissue expanders for staged breast reconstruction. Her right breast skin envelope was too thin to accommodate a pre-pectoral expander without the risk of further thinning of the anterior skin with the expansion process. Therefore, a retro-pectoral tissue expander was placed at the time of her right mastectomy, whereas a pre-pectoral tissue expander was placed at her left post mastectomy as the subcutaneous fat layer was adequate to support the expander. Both sides had human acellular dermal matrix to help support and define the lateral and lower extent of the breast soft tissue skin envelope. During her second stage, the expanders were exchanged for 700cc high profile silicone gel breast implants with the needed adjustments of the skin envelopes and internal breast capsules for the best possible symmetry. Her after photos here are three years post the second stage with satisfied outcome and good symmetry as a 44 C cup in a braless summer dress. She does not care to have neo nipples made or tattooing done.
